🌐 The Tale of Two Servers
In previous tests, Ballast and Fenla shared a single database. Your character, inventory, and progress carried over regardless of which server you logged into. This time, each server stood on its own with completely separate character data, giving us our first real look at independent shard infrastructure under load.
The community split remarkably evenly. Ballast hosted 13,159 characters, Fenla welcomed 12,590, and total playtime was nearly identical between the two, with Fenla edging ahead by about 1,039 hours.
Something we found interesting: each server started developing its own identity. Ballast skewed toward Rangers, Druids, Summoners, Paladins, and Clerics. Fenla saw higher Beastwarden, Warrior, Shaman, Wizard, Enchanter, Monk, and War-Wizard numbers. Watching distinct server cultures form organically during a test is something we'll be paying close attention to going forward.
🖥️ Server Stability
Both Ballast and Fenla maintained 100% uptime across the full 125-hour test, with Fenla running on just 8 cores. No crashes, no server lag, no major issues. Over the course of the test we did identify a slow-burning memory leak, and we already have the tooling in place to address it. For our longest and most populated test ever, we're very happy with how the infrastructure held up.
🌿 The Wilds Beckon
Druids took the top spot again as the most-played class in Adrullan with 2,365 characters. Necromancers followed in second, and Bards rounded out the top three. Beastwardens were close behind, and the darker arts continued to hold a strong pull with Hex-Knights also posting solid numbers.
On the race front, Humans led the field as expected, but the Ashkin continue to show a strong presence in second place. Ogres held third, Halflings came in fourth, and Dryads carved out a smaller but dedicated following.
📈 Going Deeper
Level 2 was the most populated level outside of level 1 with 3,700 characters. 62.1% of characters with level data made it past their first level, and about 17.0% pushed beyond level 5.
Nearly one in five accounts (18.9%) logged over 20 hours, and 335 characters surpassed 50. The average account spent 13.5 hours in-game. Collectively, you spent over 14 years adventuring across our two servers.
Over 62,000 player deaths tell us you weren't afraid to pick fights, and the 24,000+ groups formed show you weren't doing it alone. The Finks took a beating too, with 3,486 of them put down across both servers.
🔮 What's Next
Community Alpha Test 7 gave us the most comprehensive data set we've ever collected. The independent server architecture proved itself, and now we push further.
Next comes a huge step for Adrullan Online Adventures: Solendris, our city of elves. Behind the doors in Closed Alpha, a new part of the world is taking shape, alongside new character models and a rebuilt character creation screen with clearer race and class descriptions, starting locations, and a better first look at where your journey begins.
We're also continuing quality-of-life work, including an updated quest system for better organization, better keybind support for non-US keyboards, so more players can settle into Adrullan comfortably.
We can't share everything just yet, but the world is growing and we cannot wait for you to see it.
Stay tuned for flash tests, stress tests, Closed Alpha updates, and future announcements. Spread the word and share your experiences. We're building this together.
Thank you, adventurers. Adrullan wouldn't exist without you.
